CONFERENCE POLICIES
Please review the following information thoroughly to ensure you are well-prepared to attend our conference!
POSITION PAPER GUIDELINES
To be considered for research awards and receive feedback, position papers must be submitted to the correct Google Form by Monday, April 11th. To be eligible for committee awards, we must receive position papers before the first committee session on Saturday, April 16th. All papers should be sent as a pdf file with the following title: "NHSMUNC_[CommitteeName]_[CountryName]".

For more detailed requirements, please view this document.
AWARDS POLICY
Each committee will independently decide upon the criteria for handing out delegate awards. At least one delegate per committee will receive best delegate, outstanding, commendation, and research awards. All committee sessions will be considered for grading; chairs will be using both numerical scores and holistic evaluation to determine award recipients. The delegation with the largest weighted number of awards per delegate will receive the "Best Delegation" award.
TECHNOLOGY
NHSMUN is a tech-friendly conference. All committees permit and encourage the use of laptops or other suitable technological devices for the purpose of writing resolutions and directives. However, we strongly recommend that delegates bring printed copies of their research and speeches, if applicable.

Delegates should not be using smartphones or the equivalent for any purpose during committee, including for MUN-related activities. Additionally, while delegates are permitted to bring notes with them to deliver speeches, reading off a screen will be considered unprofessional and lead to significant point deductions.
PRE-WRITTEN RESOLUTIONS
One of the cornerstones of Model UN is being able to competitively collaborate with others under time pressure. Thus, following the conventions of UNA-USA / Harvard committee style, NHSMUN will not allow pre-written resolutions to be brought into committee. Collaboration or substantive discussion between delegates before the first committee session is also strongly discouraged.
Chairs and staff suspecting a delegate of breaking these rules reserve the right to investigate the delegate’s prepared research/materials. If conclusive evidence is found of a pre-written resolution being used in committee, the delegate will be disqualified from all possible awards, and their advisor will be notified. For any questions or concerns, please contact northwoodmun@gmail.com.
NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT
NHSMUN is dedicated to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all delegates regardless of race, color, religion, gender expression, sexual orientation, or disability. In accordance with the Irvine Unified School District Non-Discrimination Policy, we will seek to make all reasonable accommodations for delegates and advisors upon request. We recognize that diversity is integral in cultivating an environment conducive to developing a well-rounded worldview, particularly in Model UN, and therefore encourage all interested delegates to register regardless of their background and experience. If you have any questions, concerns, or requests, please contact northwoodmun@gmail.com.
